Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State commissioned the newly installed traffic lights on City Of David Road, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos State on Friday, July 29, 2016. The project is part of the church’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its host community. Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ambode, who was represented by Prince Anofi Elegushi, Special Adviser on Transportation, thanked and commended the Church for its support of government policies and programmes. He assured that the Lagos State Government will continue to partner with corporate citizens like City Of David to push the frontiers of development and make life more comfortable for all Lagosians.
In his remarks, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade noted that City Of David is responsive to the needs of people in our society. He stated that for quite a while when COD Church road was turned into an alternative route, there was a lot of traffic gridlock, which is why the church decided to install the traffic lights. In his words “We are not looking at the cost of installing the lights, but we want to solve a problem. We do believe that other corporate organisations will partner with the Lagos State Government to alleviate the problems of the society and improve the lot of citizens. The government alone cannot solve the problems of the society; everyone should make sure that wherever they are operating their light shines to make a noticeable impact.”
