A Song of Victory In The Midst Of Adversity

Excerpts of Pastor James Bamidele Sturdivant’s Message at the Sunshine Service on Sunday, December 10, 2017

Bible Text: 1 Peter 4:12&13a [NKJV]

If you are a child of God, you need to know that you signed up for a war and the devil will not back away from you without a fight. The devil only comes after those he knows he has lost. So, if the devil is coming after you, then he knows your real value; as you have switched sides and made him lose some of his employees, because your evangelisation took some people out of him and placed them into Heaven. As a Christian, you have signed up for an elite group and will face problems because Job 14:1 says "“Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble." Don't think because you are saved, you won't have adversity or difficulty (John 16:33), but with Jesus inside of you, you will overcome (1 John 4:4).

The Christian walk is one that not everybody is a part of. However, there are those who will not change their membership but will follow God's plan (Daniel 3:17:18). It is important that there must be a determination on your part to let the enemy know he can't win over you (Daniel 6:13-17). In this elite group, you have come under the umbrella of warriors. Hence, it doesn't matter what may come against you, this is the season where I assure you that you will have songs of victory in the midst of adversity.

Please note that if you are going through something, it is simply a process to get you to the other side of your access. It is when you recognise that you are still moving, that is when you say that you might not be where you plan to be, but you are not where you started. You must know that the Almighty God has a plan for you and He had a plan for you before you ever got into what you are in.

In spite of all that you are going through in life, the Bible says "Rejoice" while you are dealing with what you are going through. You should rejoice because:

1. You now know who your real enemy is. Ephesians 6:12 says "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." Once you know who your real enemy is, you then know how to deal with the enemy.

2. You have the right clothes for the fight that you are in. Ephesians 6:11 says "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Take off your garment of heaviness and put on a garment of praise. Praise God in advance for what He has promised He will do for you. Every time you worship and praise God, you build a seat for Him to sit in; and therefore, God will come wherever you have prepared a seat for Him, because He is enthroned in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).
